Connect online
KSL Account | Once your registration is activated by signing the nominal roll, you can connect with KSL via the Account Provided Click here for information on how to claim your KSL account. KSL’s online student platform is the institution’s most important study tool. It is the gateway to all your learning while at KSL. There are several communication channels, Memos, Notice board (Online) KSL Email, School Website, Class Representative. You can communicate to KSL through KSL Email, Class Representative or through letter addressed to the relevant department. |

KSL e-mail account | Registered KSL students all get a free e-mail account. Important information, notices and updates are sent exclusively to this account. Please note that you must sign in to activate your account. Your KSL e-mail account will be the only e-mail account recognised by KSL for official correspondence to and from KSL, and will remain the official primary e-mail address on record at KSL. Official communication from the university is sent via e-mail to a student’s e-mail account. The rules for the use of the KSL e-mail account are as follows: – KSL provides all registered students with a free e-mail address. – It is the student’s responsibility to activate their e-mail account as soon as their registration is finalised. – The e-mail account will be the only e-mail account recognised by KSL for official correspondence to and from the School and will remain the official primary e-mail address on record at KSL. – All official communication from the university will be sent to the KSL account. – Other additional communication channels may be used from time-to-time, but KSL will communicate with students primarily via their KSL e-mail addresses. – The management of this e-mail account remains the responsibility of the student. |
SMS | Be sure to give your mobile number during registration (remember to update it in case of change), as KSL sometimes SMS relevant changes / updates to you. |
Microsoft Office 365 and 1TB of online storage | Your Office 365 Account provides you with – Teams for online learning – Outlook for email – Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) for document and presentation – onedrive (Free 1TB (Terabyte) online storage. – Account management and password reset These can be installed on your mobile devices (remember to login with your KSL Account). OneDrive gives you 1TB of online storage. With Office 365, you have the perfect place to store all your personal files. All your files will be stored online, which means that you’ll be able to access them anytime, anywhere, by logging in to your 365 account using your KSL e-mail address and password. |
Browse KSL’s websites | Classes conducted online are recorded and shared through KSL elearning site elearning.ksl.ac.ke, however, students have to cater for the relevant data costs (bundles) for visiting KSL websites and downloading content from them when they access outside the KSL premises. |
Social media | Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube are great channels through which to share ideas, find other students, ask questions and generally stay informed. |
Learning online skills | If you don’t know how to use a computer, there are numerous online courses that teach basic computer skills. It’s important to understand a word processing program (such as Microsoft Word or OpenOffice Writer), how to receive and send e-mails, and how to search the internet. The Goodwill Community Foundation has over 750 free online classes available. |
Guidelines for online behaviour
“Netiquette” refers to the general guidelines for online behavior, which can include things like respecting other people’s opinions in discussion forums, keeping messages concise or brief and to the point, avoiding bad language and sarcasm, not copying large numbers of people in e-mails, addressing staff and fellow students politely and appropriately, and so on.
KSL, Microsoft TEAMS platform, is an online environment focused on learning. It is a space where you raise you hand to ask or answer a question. Do not shy away from asking or answering a question even if your opinions differ from what others are saying.
Formal electronic KSL sites should be used for formal study purposes only. KSL sites and email may not be used for private communication or advertising. No third party should be given access to any of these sites and accounts. Misuse of these sites could result in disciplinary action.
